The story
Hitodama is a light associated with the human spirit in Japanese folklore. Its shape changes between tellings, often shown as a drifting flame with a trailing tail.
Here, the watercolour image moves across the front of the knit. The name Akane evokes the deep red of the madder plant and the evening sky.
